Sunday Election Updates

Democrats continue to extend their momentous leads in all statewide contests. Governor Wes Moore leads the hapless Dan Cox by 64%-32%–about the same as four years ago but with more votes to be counted that will likely extend the Governor’s lead. Comptroller Brooke Lierman and Attorney General Anthony Brown each lead their Republican opponents by 68%-32%. Both represent even greater victories than the landslides they achieved in 2022.

Andy Harris’s lead continues to shrink in the First District, but he will certainly keep his seat this year. Currently, he leads Dan Schwartz by 53%-46%. In 2022, Harris beat Heather Mizeur by 54%-43% in the final results. The passage of Question 3 will allow Democrats to realign the boundaries in a manner favorable to their candidate.

In the latest local changes, Democrats have picked up one seat apiece on the Orphans’ Courts of St. Mary’s and Wicomico. The latter gives them the majority on that three-member body. Mail ballots continue to arrive and aid the Democrats.
