{"id":8305,"date":"2017-07-26T18:26:45","date_gmt":"2017-07-26T22:26:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theseventhstate.com\/?p=8305"},"modified":"2017-07-26T18:26:45","modified_gmt":"2017-07-26T22:26:45","slug":"evan-glass-files-for-county-council-at-large","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theseventhstate.com\/?p=8305","title":{"rendered":"Evan Glass Files for County Council At-Large"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Adam Pagnucco.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Silver Spring resident Evan Glass, who lost the 2014 District 5 Democratic primary to Tom Hucker by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theseventhstate.com\/?p=7878\">just 222 votes<\/a>, has filed to run for County Council At-Large. \u00a0Glass is a <a href=\"http:\/\/politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com\/tag\/cnn-congressional-producer-evan-glass\/\">former CNN producer<\/a> and the current <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gandhibrigade.org\/about\">Executive Director of the non-profit Gandhi Brigade.<\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0He made big news three years ago when he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/time-to-end-montgomery-countys-alcohol-monopoly\/2014\/04\/25\/68beb01c-cb1f-11e3-a75e-463587891b57_story.html?utm_term=.8550d519f12a\">called for an end to the county&#8217;s liquor monopoly<\/a>. \u00a0Following is his statement.<\/p>\n<div role=\"list\">\n<div>\n<div role=\"presentation\">\n<div class=\"_rp_a5\">\n<div class=\"_rp_M4 ms-border-color-neutralLight ShowReferenceAttachmentsLinks ShowConsesusSchedulingLink\">\n<div class=\"_rp_Z4 _rp_Y4\">\n<div role=\"document\">\n<div id=\"Item.MessagePartBody\" class=\"_rp_O4\">\n<div id=\"Item.MessageUniqueBody\" class=\"_rp_P4 ms-font-weight-regular ms-font-color-neutralDark rpHighlightAllClass rpHighlightBodyClass\">\n<div class=\"rps_2673\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Over the last few months I&#8217;ve had conversations with friends, neighbors and leaders across Montgomery County about the future of our community. The common thread I heard is that Montgomery County is a very special place that we all love, but that our growth in population, struggle to provide equity in our school system, rising cost\u00a0of\u00a0housing and need to improve our transportation infrastructure require new ideas and new voices in Rockville.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Throughout these conversations I have appreciated the strong encouragement I&#8217;ve received countywide.\u00a0Residents are energized and looking for fresh leadership.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">I am also excited about entering into the public financing system, which I strongly\u00a0supported\u00a0through public testimony before it became law.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Over the next 11 months of this campaign, I look forward to having conversations with residents across all corners of the county.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Adam Pagnucco.
