The top two candidates continue on to the general election In 2017, there was a primary just in Ward II, which was held in March. The general elections were held on May 2. All of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.somdnews.com\/independent\/spotlight\/new-day-for-la-plata-sweeps-general-elections\/article_01e9f1f0-4ab5-57dc-8513-1693b75f4283.html\">winning candidates were part of the New Day for La Plata slate<\/a> sponsored by the La Plata Business Association.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Council Ward II Primary<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>Clyde Keith Black (incumbent), 119<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Brent Finagin, 110<\/em><br \/>\nJon W. Norris, 52<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mayor<\/strong><br \/>\nLynn D. Gilroy (former Ward III councilmember), 440<br \/>\n<em>Jeannine Elizabeth James, 563<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Council Ward I<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Matthew Timothy Simpson, 621<\/em><br \/>\nRalph Wayne Winkler (incumbent), 369<\/p>\n<p><strong>Council Ward II<br \/>\n<\/strong>Clyde Keith Back (incumbent), 415<br \/>\n<em>Brent Finagin, 567<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Council Ward III<\/strong><br \/>\nTimothy Giles, 353<br \/>\n<em>Emily Mudd Hendricks, 622<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Council Ward IV<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Paddy Mudd, 548<\/em><br \/>\nJoseph W. As a result, the Council will have to fill the vacancy, assuming that they can find someone willing to do the job. Turnout was just 3.3% in this uncontested election.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Council<br \/>\n<\/strong>Tom Knight (incumbent), 9<br \/>\nBob Kuhs (incumbent), 10<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/www.perryvillemd.org\/home\/news\/election-results\">Perryville<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>Reich and Linkey were the only candidates on the ballot for the two open seats. Turnout was 3%.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Commission<\/strong><br \/>\nEverett &#8220;Pete&#8221; Reich, 54<br \/>\nMichelle Linkey (incumbent), 41<br \/>\nWrite-Ins, 4<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/www.baltimoresun.com\/news\/maryland\/harford\/aegis\/ph-ag-havre-de-grace-election-result-0505-20170502-story.html\">Havre de Grace<\/a><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Mayor<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Bill Martin (incumbent), 1523<\/em><br \/>\nWayne Dougherty (former mayor), 874<\/p>\n<p><strong>Council<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Monica Worrell (incumbent), 1860<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Jason Robertson, 1692<\/em><br \/>\n<em>David Martin (incumbent), 1459<\/em><br \/>\nFred Cullum (former councilmember), 1001<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fredericknewspost.com\/news\/politics_and_government\/elections\/robertson-joins-new-market-town-council-after-election\/article_7d8d94eb-ba2d-58ae-afce-919bf5cf1de4.html\">New Market<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>More contests with no opposition. Turnout was 8.9%.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mayor<\/strong><br \/>\nWinslow F. Burhans (incumbent), 73.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Council<\/strong><br \/>\nShane Rossman, 68<br \/>\nMike Davies, 68<br \/>\nJake Romanell, 59<br \/>\nScott Robertson, 57<br \/>\nDennis Kimble, 51.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mountairymd.org\/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=31\">Mount Airy<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>Mount Airy held municipal election on May 1. Both incumbents who sought reelection won.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mayor<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Patrick Rockinberg (incumbent), 1226<\/em><br \/>\nBenjamin Greenstein, 646<br \/>\nJoseph Muise, 40<\/p>\n<p><strong>Council<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Larry Hushour, 1203<br \/>\nScott Strong (incumbent), 1096<\/em><br \/>\nLeslie Dickinson, 838<br \/>\nKarl Munder, 229<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cityofpocomoke.com\/boardofelection.html\">Pocomoke City<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>An election occurred only in for the District 3 Council seat. At least <a href=\"http:\/\/www.delmarvanow.com\/story\/opinion\/2016\/04\/20\/pocomoke-new-vote-after-fail\/83241384\/\">they didn&#8217;t have to rerun the election<\/a> like in 2016 after there were problems with the voting equipment and balloting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Council District 3<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>R. Dale Trotter, 86<\/em><br \/>\nMonna VanEss, 67<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"http:\/\/www.delmarvanow.com\/story\/news\/local\/maryland\/2016\/04\/28\/snow-hill-election-canceled-due-unopposed-candidates\/83656674\/\">Snow Hill<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>Since candidates faced no opposition, Snow Hill didn&#8217;t even hold an election.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mayor<\/strong><br \/>\nJohn C.
