{"id":4245,"date":"2014-11-03T08:00:56","date_gmt":"2014-11-03T13:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theseventhstate.com\/?p=4245"},"modified":"2014-11-02T23:44:51","modified_gmt":"2014-11-03T04:44:51","slug":"anti-lgbt-gop-strategy-extends-beyond-peroutka","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theseventhstate.com\/?p=4245","title":{"rendered":"Anti-LGBT GOP Strategy Extends Beyond Peroutka"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this week, I detailed how Anne Arundel Republican County Council Candidate Michael <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theseventhstate.com\/?p=4214\">Peroutka is using robocalls from a fake group &#8220;Marylanders for Transgenders<\/a>&#8221; to call attention to his opponent&#8217;s sexual orientation in a negative way.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, this approach does not appear limited to Peroutka, a man that advocates southern secession and belongs to the extremist John Birch society. Another Maryland Republican is using similar attacks against openly gay candidates.<\/p>\n<p>In Harford County, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.daggerpress.com\/2014\/10\/31\/seitzinger-in-support-of-newcomers-perrone-and-beulah-for-harford-county-council\/\">public letter posted on daggerpress.com <\/a>attempts to support Republican County Council Candidate Curtis Beulah by linking his opponent, out candidate Joe Smith, to sexual predators and pedophilia:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In addition, Smith is a founding member of the Stonewall Democrats of Central Maryland, a gay rights activist organization. These are the kind of groups that gave us the recent \u201dBathroom Bill\u201d. This statewide law is so poorly crafted that it allows sexual predators to claim sexual identity confusion, thereby ushering them into the public restrooms of any gender they choose.
